Former Justice of Appeal, Claudette Singh, has been appointed to the post of Legal Advisor to the Guyana Police Force.
Former Justice of Appeal, Claudette Singh
Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon, made the announcement yesterday and said the decision was taken by Cabinet on Tuesday last.
According to Dr. Luncheon, while the Director of Public Prosecutions already advises the police, there continues to be a significant element of police work that warrants the day to day physical access of its own Legal Advisor.
He said that what Justice Singh offers the Guyana Police Force “is access to quality legal advice right at their door steps.”
Dr. Luncheon opined that the position of Legal Advisor for the Guyana Police Force is a welcomed addition to the assets in the struggle against crime in Guyana.
Dr. Luncheon also used the opportunity to announce that Cabinet has also endorsed a decision by Head of State, Donald Ramotar, to substantively appoint, Senior Superintendent of Police (Rtd) Welton Trotz as Director of Prisons, while his acting Deputy Senior Superintendant of Police (Rtd), Carl Graham, was also confirmed in his position.
