Independence celebrations end with drone show depicting Guyana’s national emblems

(Kaieteur News) – Guyanese filled up the Guyana National Stadium in their numbers on Tuesday as the country ended its Diamond Jubilee (60th) Independence Anniversary with a drone and light show.

The drone depicted Guyana’s national emblems with a colourful display in the sky, wooing those in attendance. Among the emblems displayed were the Golden Arrowhead, The Coat Arms, Guyana’s national animal, the Jaguar, its national bird, the Canje Pheasant, the country’s national flower, the Victoria Regia Lilly and the Kaieteur Falls, known as the world’s largest single drop falls.

The recently commissioned Bharrat Jagdeo Demerara River Bridge was also depicted in the show and was described as “Iconic and as one of the crowned jewels of the Peoples Progressive Party/Civic led government”.

The government’s “One Guyana” mantra was also depicted before the drone show ended by wishing all Guyanese a “Happy Diamond Jubilee Independence Anniversary”.

Other highlights of the evening included performance from the Guyana Defence Force and the Barbados Defence Force Bands. The bands not only performed on their instruments, but formations that were captured by drone cameras from above wishing Guyana a happy 60th Independence Anniversary.

Students from schools on the East Bank of Demerara (EBD) made a formation of the Map of Guyana, while another group formed a heart inside that map.

There were also dances from various groups and live performances from Guyana’s champion monarchs, including, Adrian Dutch, the 2026 Soca King and Carlvin Burnette, the current road march king.

GDF paratroopers also put on a show, while K-9 unit of the Guyana Police Force jumped through fire rings.
