DEAR EDITOR,
As human beings we question so many things. Who are we apart from our job titles? Who are we without the trappings of achieving and striving? What is the core value of me and you?
No assumptions, no pretence, no one watching, no one expecting anything, no editing, no proving. Who are we behind and beyond the opinions of others? Who are we really beyond the likes and dislikes on facebook? Who are we beyond the busyness, the critics and the acceptance?
For sure we will find answers not in this world but in the hereafter. Death is an occasion of unfathomable proportions. All the words written about it cannot give us that feel of it.
That’s why God-Almighty said,” Every soul must taste death”. It is an experience that will bring each and every one of us face-to-face with the pure and unadulterated truth.
If we constantly reflect upon death our contributions to the world will be of great significance. We will compete with each other to do good; to build a better world, to stop conflicts and preserve human dignity.
Yes, we will stop insulting each other in the parliament, in our homes and on the streets. We will do business with integrity and our political, spiritual and social leaders will give justice to their people.
Death is the destroyer of all pleasures! We all need to reflect upon it deeply. God-Almighty has blessed this country with enormous natural resources, fertile land, great weather, hardworking people and educated leaders. But, we are so divided in unity. We cannot deliberate and make simple decisions for the benefit of our people and our country.
In retrospect, we all need to reflect upon the inevitable “Death” then and only then we shall be kind, generous, hospitable and caring. Think about our relatives, friends and leaders who have already returned to the great beyond, they left with empty hands to a place of everlasting bliss or torment.
I pray for God-Almighty to bless this nation and cause our leaders to unite for the common good of the people in an atmosphere of peace, love and tranquility. Nazar Mohamed
