Guyana set up a rematch with Argentina today for third place after recovering from 1-0 down to register a commanding 5-1 win over host Uruguay in the 2014 Indoor Pan American Cup (Men) Hockey Championship in Montevideo yesterday.
The Guyanese suffered an early setback after falling behind in the 5th minute when Alexis Lopez netted, but star player Jamaarj Assanah drew the game level in the 19th minute as the teams took the break deadlocked 1-1.
Three minutes after the resumption, Devin Munroe gave the Guyanese the lead through a field goal attempt beforeRobert France stretched their advantage with another field goal.
Jamaarj Assanah continued his impressive run as in the opening game against Argentina.
Assanah then returned to score two goals to complete a hat-trick which gave the Guyanese an impressive win and an opportunity to set up a rematch with Argentina.
They had beaten Argenmtina 5-3 in their opening encounter and fireworks are expected in this game.
Canada and the USA will contest the final.
