Popular radio announcer, Ossie Rogers, yesterday exited the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court as a remanded prisoner after appearing there in relation to accusations made by a 13-year-old girl that he barged into her yard and assaulted her.
Behind closed doors, Rogers who is attached to the National Television Network (NTN), was indicted before Magistrate Alex Moore on assault causing actual bodily harm and threatening behaviour charges.

Rogers is accused of dealing the teen several slaps moments after barging into her Industry, East Coast Demerara yard and confronting her about text messages she sent to a mutual male friend’s phone.
He allegedly accused her of being “too close” to his friend.
Rogers was charged too for threatening behaviour towards the teen’s mother, Indramattie Ramdhayal, who reportedly rushed to the teen’s aid.
When the charges were read to the accused, however, he refuted all claims and submitted a bail application through his lawyer, Dexter Todd. The case is being prosecuted by Inspector Anthony.
While both offences are bailable, Ramdhayal during the one-hour-long court hearing, explained that she now fears for her life since Rogers has been making other threats to her and her family.
Magistrate Moore, in response, opted to remanded Rogers to prison. He will make his next court appearance on April 8.
Last November, the said Magistrate found Rogers guilty of resisting arrest and failing to comply with a lawful direction by a police officer. Rogers was pulled over by a police rank for his heavily-tinted car, but refused to cooperate with the police.
He was fined and ordered to complete 53 hours of community service. An arrest warrant was later issued for him by Magistrate Moore when he did not show up. Rogers later moved to the High Court to appeal the Magistrate’s decision.
