The process to apply for a temporary resident visa at the High Commission of Canada in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago has changed.
This is according to the High Commission of Canada in High & Young Streets, Georgetown. The new measures are being implemented to modernize and streamline service delivery. The Commission through a notification on Friday advised that as of April 1, applicants may submit applications using either of the two new methods.
These include; Visa Applications Centers (VAC) and online (e-app).
With the VAC, applicants may submit applications through the two Visa Application Centres (VAC) in Port of Spain, Trinidad or Georgetown, Guyana. Applicants who are unable to submit their application in person to the VAC office may courier their applications to one of the VAC offices: http://www.csc-cvac.com/en-TT/selfservice/cvac_welcome and http://www.csc-cvac.com/en-GY/selfservice/cvac_welcome.
With the online process applicants may submit their applications online via www.cic.gc.ca. Persons applying via an online application do not need to submit their passport until processing is complete and they are requested to do so.
Moreover, as of Tuesday, April 1, 2014, the High Commission of Canada will no longer provide in-person and drop box facilities for submission of applications.
Additionally, citizens of certain countries are required to submit biometrics along with their applications. If an applicant is required to submit biometrics, they should visit the VAC in person well in advance of intended travel date. To ascertain whether one is required to provide biometrics, they can visit www.cic.gc.ca for more details.
The High Commission of Canada to Trinidad and Tobago will be open to clients by appointments only. A letter of invitation/interview convocation letter is required to gain entry.
