TravelSpan and Vision Airlines have announced their intentions to hire Guyanese flight attendants to staff an additional aircraft that comes into service on February 15.
According to the company, this recruitment process is to facilitate an additional aircraft that Vision Airlines will be putting into service for Guyana starting on that day.
Travelspan has announced plans to hire flight attendants locally and add another plane by mid-February.
Vision Airlines, a will be adding a 767-300 and two 767-200 aircraft to its fleet in addition to its 737 and Dornier aircrafts.
“The company seeks persons who have the ability to learn quickly, have effective communication and time management skills and an amiable personality. University graduates are preferred.”
Qualified applicants are encouraged to send their resumes and a photo to career@travelspan.com, the air services said yesterday.
TravelSpan began nonstop service between New York and Georgetown in December, a move welcomed by passengers who have been demanding an alternative carrier on the route. “TravelSpan successfully moved thousands of passengers to New York, Georgetown and Trinidad for the holiday season. TravelSpan is also examining regional flights from Guyana that, accompanied by today’s decision to hire local flight attendants, will position TravelSpan to better serve Guyana.”
With TravelSpan’s re-entry to the market, Guyana now has three different carriers to the critical Georgetown to New York route. Early last year, it was Caribbean Airlines alone, after Delta pulled out. Fares had spiked to a high of US$1,600 in some cases, forcing Government to summon the Trinidad government, owners of the airline, to Guyana.
