‘Plastic bag’ throwing may have caused Albouystown murder – Police
– suspected killers still on the run
Police are yet to apprehend two men wanted in connection with the murder of 24-year-old Lloyd Benjamin. Benjamin, who lived at Lot 113 King Edward Street, Albouystown, was allegedly knifed to death by two brothers following an argument on Sunday in Albouystown.
A relative of the dead man told Kaieteur News, yesterday, that the family is yet to hear anything from the police as it relates to the investigation. The relative said that a post mortem examination is expected to be conducted on Wednesday.
Meanwhile police sources yesterday told Kaieteur News that they are still “actively’ investigating the matter. The source said they may have been able to ascertain the motive, which was very “petty”.
Kaieteur News was told that Benjamin and one brother had an earlier confrontation about a “plastic bag” which was thrown at his “sweets stand”. A scuffle ensued between the two men. The source explained that neighbours separated the two. Moments later, the source said that Benjamin was passing by another brother when he was stabbed. It is unclear whether the two had an exchange of words.
This newspaper was told that Benjamin lived opposite his alleged killers and that the men were once friends. One relative of the dead man told Kaieteur News that the three men were friends. This newspaper was told that Benjamin was stabbed to the region of his chest; he also had another wound to the head. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Benjamin’s mother, Lorriane, told Kaieteur News that she had last seen her son on Sunday morning.
“He came by me and I made breakfast for he. I ain’t know that would have been the last time I would have seen him.”
According to the woman, she received a call from a female who told her that Benjamin was stabbed. Upon her arrival at the hospital her worst fears were confirmed.
