DEAR EDITOR,
I notice letters written in the press by sportsmen and women expressing sadness and anger at Professor Daizal Samad’s departure from UGBC, Berbice and Guyana. I support them fully.
Anyone who does not know how much this gentleman has done for all of Guyana has to be blind or deaf. I have no degree, but I know that women who are abused go to him for help. Children who are molested go to him. Students needing books and clothes go to him. It is not only sports people. Everyone.
I want to ask all Guyanese this question—Can you find one person with the integrity of the Professor? But the man is also the brightest thing we have in Guyana. He is a humble man and anyone can approach him on the road or at his house. His office is like a community centre where people go for help or advice.
Why are the authorities not bringing him back home to work for us? This is insane. Can Guyana afford this kind of loss? We complain about talent leaving the country, but when we have the talent here, we throw it away.
Let us all join together for the good of this country or else we will not have a country. Randolph Latcha
