Dear Editor,
While the expansion of road infrastructure in Guyana is a positive step for progress, the quality of construction on many newly built roads is alarming. Motorists frequently experience a jarring, uncomfortable, and unsafe ride due to poor, uneven connections between bridges and the main road surfaces, often forcing emergency braking.
Furthermore, these uneven surfaces and bumps frequently lack the necessary, advanced warning signs, creating hazardous conditions for drivers traveling at highway speeds.
Why are contractors allowed to deliver such subpar, “sloppy” work without repercussions?
Why is the Ministry of Public Works not enforcing stricter accountability and quality control standards upon these contractors?
It appears the rush to complete projects is leading to a disregard for driver safety and ride comfort, demanding immediate investigation into the contractors’ adherence to international road construction standards.
Regards,
Vidya Persaud
