Alanzo Greaves turned in a commendable performance to win the 35-lap School Boys and Invitation event when the ninth edition of the Hand In Hand sponsored 11 Race Cycle Meet came off yesterday at the National Park.
Greaves clocked One Hour 21 Minutes 27.58 Seconds to finish ahead of second placed Robin Persaud and Hamza Eastman who ended in third place. Michael Anthony, Paul De Nobrega and Albert Philander completed the top six positions in that order.
Godfrey Pollydore who suffered a puncture on lap 22 and De Nobrega, won three prime prizes each while Graves and Philander took one apiece. The race commenced with 23 starters but only 7 completed. Greaves break away from the top six with just with just under 80 meters to go and powered his way to the finish line.

Richard Charles took the top podium spot in the Mountain Bike race while Ozia Macullay finished second and Stephano Husbands took third spot. Maurice Fagundes won the Veteran’s Over-60 event. The Boys and Girls 12-14 BMX race was won by Alfie Sonoram, Romelo Crawford took the second place while Toshwana Doris ended third.
Junior Niles copped the Veterans Under-50 contest ahead of Shameer Baksh and Kennard Lovell respectively while Virgil Jones took the honours in the Veterans Over-50 with Linden Blackman, second.
Michael Anthony overcame Hamza Eastman (2nd) and Mario King (3rd) to take the Juvenile title. Sherwin Sampson carted off the BMX 6-9 and 9-12 races. Alexander Leung and Shay Su-Hang placed second and third respectively in the 6-9 years category while Taran Garbaran was the runner up in the 9-12 division.
The BMX 12-14 event was taken by Rawle Small; Brighton John finished second and Jaleel Jackson, third. Adrian Sharma powered his way to victory in the BMX Boys Open segment while Daniel Fraser came second and Deeraj Garbaran third.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony organiser and National Cycling Coach Hassan Mohamed thanked the sponsors and participants while Bonicka Gordon of Hand In Hand said the company is pleased to be associated with cycling and will continue with their sponsorship.
