Guyana’s top amateur boxers will go all out tonight with Marvin Ageday and
Bert Braithwaite both unbeaten in the Middleweight and Junior Welterweight Divisions respectively heading to New Amsterdam for the last of the Mackeson Fight Night.
The innovative and novel inaugural Mackeson Fight Night was launched three weeks ago with Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) President, Steve Ninvalle, stating that the main aim of the event was to take boxing to the community. Ansa McAl’s Mackeson Brand Coordinator, Jamaal Douglas had reiterated the goal.
The boxing card, which also returned amateur boxing to Linden two weeks ago, was also held in Georgetown at the National Cultural Centre tarmac last weekend and will conclude at the New Amsterdam Stelling tonight with over ten fights carded.
The Cards will feature four boxers in four divisions, including Lightweight, Junior Welterweight, Welterweight and Middleweight. Each fight will last for three rounds, and according to Ninvalle, the top boxers from tonight will each be awarded vouchers.
Ninvalle had said that the top emerging boxers will be properly rewarded. Technical Coordinator for the event, Terrence Poole had also informed that the event marked the first time that Guyana saw sanctioned amateur boxing that promised fistic furies in the street.
The competition is being held under the International Amateur Boxing Association (IABA) rules and all technical boxing rules apply. The action-packed Mackeson Fight Night will feature those boxers looking to finish atop of their respective divisions tonight.
