Once again, Fitness Express has shown its real commitment towards the development of Guyana’s sportsmen and women. Ever since it opened its doors to a few short years ago, Owner/Manager Jamie Mc Donald has been assisting across the board.
Reigning Mr. Guyana, Kerwin Clarke who has displayed phenomenal shape in the past few months to the extent that he muscled his way past the opposition at the Guyana Amateur Body Building & Fitness Federation Senior Championships “Bodies of Steel” on July 20 to be crowned Mr. Guyana beating last year’s champ, Devon Davis.

Clarke is now focused on bring back the gold medal at region’s top event, the 41st Central American & Caribbean Bodybuilding Championships set for Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, September 18 – 24.
Fitness Express has presented Clarke with a cheque to cover his airfare for these championships and the champ has said that he is confident of doing his nation proud.
In presenting his company’s contribution, Mc Donald noted that they had no hesitation in assisting Clarke when they were approached to help.
“We have been following the progress of Clarke and other athletes in the weights sports and we are impressed with the way a number of these athletes have been applying themselves. We know that Guyana is blessed with talented athletes and we will continue to play our part in helping to give that the opportunity to compete among the best beyond these shores”.
Present for the presentation was GABBFF Secretary Videsh Sookram who complimented McDonald and Fitness Express for their continued partnership which he said has played a major role in helping to revive the sport in Guyana.
It was revealed that along with Clarke (Buddy’s Gym) who will compete in the Welterweight class (155 – 164lbs), Devon Davis (Bantamweight) of the Guyana Defence Force Gym and reigning Ms. Guyana Alisha Fortune also of the GDF Gym will also represent Guyana at CAC.
The Bahamas which will be represented by a strong 14-member team this year will be placing a bid to host the 42nd edition of the competition, next year. (Franklin Wilson)
