The organisers of the Jumbo Jet Seventh Annual Guyana Cup horserace meet slated for this Sunday at the Port Mourant Turf Club, Jumbo Jet Auto Sales and Stables in collaboration with the Port Mourant Turf Club, have added an A Class race to the programme. With $34M in cash and prizes up for the taking following the addition of $4M, competitors and fans alike are in for a major treat.
With top horse, Score’s Even, which is now a A class animal being in danger of not being able to compete because there was no A class event on the programme, Mr. Nasrudeen ‘Jumbo Jet’ Mohammed added the A class $4M event to the programme. The winner is guaranteed a healthy $2M and Trophy over 1200M. However, five horses will have to start this race before it is held. The H class event has since been replaced, while the distances of the B and the three year old West Indies events has been altered from 1700M and 1600M to 1500M in both cases.

The full list of events are -The B and lower race for the lavish first prize of $3.5M and the Guyana Cup trophy over 1500M with a total prize money of $7M . The ‘A’ and lower 1200 M gallop has a first prize of $2M and trophy with a total package of $4M.
The Co-feature 1500M event for 3 yrs. old Guyana and the West Indies bred horses for a winning purse of $2.5M and trophy.
The Two year old 1000M event for West Indies Bred horses for a $1.5M top prize and trophy.
The E class and lower 1400M event for a winning take of $1M top and trophy.
There is a race for F class Horses with the winner getting $900,000 and trophy over 1000M, the G 3 and lower1200M contest with the winner getting $800,000 and trophy, the 1200M race for Guyana born three year old horses with a $600,000 price tag and trophy along with the ‘I’ and lower 1200M event for a top prize of $300,000 and trophy.
The final race has $200,000 plus trophy at stake for the winner of the JKL event over 1200M. Over 105 horses have entered for the event while a number of foreign and overseas based jockeys will be in action. All the top stables in the country will be represented including the Jumbo Jet connection with over 15 entrants, Colin Elcock Delmur and P&P Syndicate Racing Stable and the Shariff racing stables chases them down with over 10, Senior Council Marcel Crawford, Habibulla, Ashrafally, Jagdeo and Singh also have plenty horses listed to compete. Other major stables on show will be Dennis DeRoop Simple Royal, Night Eyes, Mahaicony, Jagroop/ Jagmohan and Velloza among others Rumour’s, Night Eyes, Mahaicony, Jagroop/ Jagmohan, Ashrafalli, Tony, Saul, Customs and Singh racing stables.
Most of the top Jockeys in the country have been showing form with Jamaicans Andron Findlay and Brian Blake, also expected are Trinidadians Arthur Padmore, Neal Mohammed and Preayven Badrie. However they will have to compete against the likes of overseas based riders in United States based Sunny Singh and Caribbean campaigner
