Guyana’s Trinidad and Tobago-based, Lionel D’Andrade placed second in ninth annual Neal and Massy Rainbow Cup on Saturday at Turtle Beach, Tobago. D’Andrade was the only Guyanese in the top three of the regional race.
He finished in 16:05, four seconds behind Barbados’ Matthew Wright (16:01) and ahead Trinidad and Tobago’s Elvis Turner, who had 16:41 for third place. Trinidad’s, Curtis Cox in 16:47, was fourth in the race.
“I think I’m still recovering after running the Butler 20km Classic last Wednesday where I placed fourth. The weather condition was humid and I felt myself feeling much slower as the route progressed,” D’Andrade told this newspaper yesterday from Trinidad.
D’Andrade said that he will be resting for the upcoming CARICOM 10km race in Trinidad next weekend.
Meanwhile, Tonya Nero comfortably won the women’s 5km race on Saturday in 19:18, while Jenelle Nedd (20:02) and Kerticha John (20:13) was second and third.
