After the demanding three -stage race and a rest for a few weeks, cyclist in Guyana will once again take to the road. This time in the ancient county when the Flying Ace Cycling club stages the fifth annual Banks DIH Limited Aqua Water 60-mile road race.
In previous years the event was restricted only to club cyclists, but this time the race has been open to cyclists throughout Guyana and the cream of the country’s cyclists are expected to pack their cycling gear and throng to Berbice for what is expected to be a grueling event.
The race is expected to pedal off at 09:00hrs from in front of Banks DIH New Amsterdam Branch and proceed to No43 Bridge on the Corentyne and back to the place of origin.
Beverage Giants Banks Limited recently handed over the sponsorship package to Coordinator and coach of the Club Randolph Roberts. Berbice Sales Manager JoshuaTorrezao did the honours.
A number of incentives are up for the taking with the first six finishers, the top three juniors and female riders collecting rewards.
The top three finishers from the Flying Ace Cycle Club will also be given special prizes while there are eight sprint point prizes on offer.
The defending champion is Dwight Holder, while Marcia Dick is the defending female champion.
Officials of The beverage company are expected to be on hand to start the race and distribute the prizes at the end of the event.
Cyclists are reminded that they must ride with their club colours and produce their licence or they will not be allowed to take part.
Those cyclists who are unattached will only be allowed to ride in white top. Interested persons can contact coordinator Randolph Roberts.
