Vreed-en-Hoop Secondary School teacher Rhada Singh, speaking with Kaieteur Sport shortly after receiving her Certificate of Attendance at the Digicel 2-Day Coaching Course which was held recently, expressed delight at having the opportunity to benefit from the sessions.
The Course, which was conducted by Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Technical Development Officer Lyndon France to enhance the coaching abilities of the participants and to improve the all-round standard of play as Digicel prepares to stage its annual nationwide Schools Football Competition, saw around 60 persons from nearly all the Regions participate in both theoretical and practical sessions held over the period.
Singh, told this newspaper that she is an ardent fan of football and was always eager to increase her knowledge of the sport, adding that what she was able to learn over the two days will definitely serve the students of the school in their preparations for the upcoming tournament.
“I was able to grasp a lot during the Course and I’m much more prepared now to go back to my school and impart that knowledge,” Singh stated.
She promised to encourage more teachers to participate in such activities so that they could use their expertise to encourage students to use extra-curricular activities as motivation to stay in school, while also serving as a stimuli for them to do critical thinking and problem solving.
Singh said that even though the Course was dominated by males, which according to her was no surprise, she felt quite comfortable among them and was able to gain quite a lot from the interactive sessions.
Quizzed on her performance during the technical sessions that were held at the Parade ground, Singh informed that even though it was a bit rigorous, she was able to finish the sessions, despite feeling a bit tired.
She closed in an upbeat mood by saying that because of the knowledge that she has gained Vreed-en-Hoop will definitely perform much better in this year’s competition.
