A 27-year-old Guyanese studying in Cuba has been accused of killing a national there, while also severely injuring the Cuban’s wife.
Contacted yesterday, Public Service Minister Jennifer Westford confirmed that the government has received the initial reports and is awaiting an official report from the Cubans.
Minister Westford, whose Ministry overseas scholarship students, said she could not confirm details of what transpired.
“We are not certain about whom, what or why,” she told Kaieteur News in an invited comment.
At press time, Minister Westford said Guyanese authorities were trying to ascertain the identity of the suspect.
This proved difficult because there are two students with the same name studying in Cuba.
