Ranks from the Felix Austin Training College have won the 2012 Smellie Cup First Aid Competition.
Participants in Friday’s event included the Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters ‘A’ Division, Immigration ‘A’ Division and ‘A’ Division General Office.
The winners won $100,000, a trophy each and a replica of the Smellie Cup.

Second place prize of $75,000 and a trophy went to CID Headquarters, third place to Immigration ‘A’ Division and fourth place to General Office. The third place winners, received $50,000 and those placing fourth received $25,000. The best first Aider prize of $50,000 went to Constable Grant.
The Smellie Cup First Aid competition was introduced in the Force in 1927 and in 1931 the Force became a member of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Colonel W.A. Orrett, C.B.E., K.P.H., the then Commissioner of Police, was the first Commissioner of the Brigade. Ever since, the event has been an annual spectacle.
The GPF is a division of the St. John Ambulance Brigade which was established since 1931. The Force apart from its core functions assists the citizenry throughout the country in rendering first aid to the sick and injured in times of emergency.
