Spectators were treated to several riveting encounters when action in the Preparatory Ten10 Softball Cricket Championships continued at several venues countrywide.
Over at the Leonora Primary School Ground, Ruimzeight XI cruised to a 32 run victory over Leonora All Stars XI after the former team won the toss, elected to bat and amassed 113-6 in 10 overs.
Muneshwar Balgobin lashed 6 lofty sixes on his way to a top score of 65 while Mahendra Persaud took 3-15 from 2 overs. In reply Leonora All Stars, fielding mostly young players, lost several early wickets and were eventually dismissed for 81-9 in 10 overs.
Invaderz XI of Parika then thrashed Gunners XI by 8 wickets after the latter team was routed for a paltry 49 in 8.4 overs. In reply Invaderz made 50-2 in 7.2 overs. Rambo XI was then gifted a walkover over Ammonut XI.
Rising Stars females held their nerves to edge pass Evolution by 2 wickets in a closely contested encounter while in the Male open knockout segment in Linden, Wiruni Male team was gifted a walkover from Coomaka Mines.
Wiruni Female Team then defeated Coomaka Blazing Fire by 7 wickets while Wiruni returned later in the day to defeat Sunrise SC by 6 wickets after the latter batted first and amassed 84-8 in 10 overs. Wiruni replied with 88-4 in 9.4 overs.
Male Open: Challengers defeated Rockaway XI by 13 runs moments before Zalata XI gained a walkover from Sohan XI. El Commande next defeated JJ Benegal Tigers XI by 5 wickets.
Female Open: Enterprise Young Achievers XI got the better of Magic Crystal XI by 5 wickets while in the Male Open K&K Warriors defeated Martion ‘A’ by 5 wickets. Starboys XI also got past Trophy Stall ‘B’ by 6 wickets.
In the over 35 clash, Success Masters XI gained a walkover from Martion over 35 while Young Guns defeated Enterprise Masters XI by 35 runs.
Upper East Coast: Male Open: Helena #1&2 Vishnu Mandir defeated Mahaica SC by 9 runs while Cricket Zone USA defeated Cut & Run by 10 wickets. De Hoop Bushrangers defeated Young Thugs by 4 wickets.
Female Open:
Mahaica Queens defeated Rising Stars by 7 wickets. The latter team batted first and made 65 all out in 10 overs. In reply Mahaica Queens took the honours after scoring 67-3 in 8.1 overs. In the over 35 category, Fazal Kayume XI defeated Farmers XI by 5 wickets after Farmers made 204-6 in 20 overs. In reply Fazal Kayume made 205-5 in 18 overs to win the match.
Essequibo: Male Open: Adventure SC defeated Columbia SC by 6 wickets while Roots defeated Airy Hall by 2 wickets. Airy Hall also defeated El Dorado SC after Airy Hall decided to abandon the game.
Georgetown Zone: Regal XI defeated Deccan Chargers by 46 runs and in the Berbice Zone Memorex XI defeated Celebrity Times by 5 wickets.
The tournament is sponsored by Moonlite Trading, Regal Stationery and Computer Centre, Elegance Jewelry and Pawn shop and Mike Copy Centre. Activities are organized by the Guyana Softball League.
