Junior’s Jewellery and Pawn Shop of lot 64 Robb St. Lacytown for the 6th consecutive
year maintained support for the Annual NaMilCo Football Festival after pledging one gold chain which will go to the Highest Goal scorer of the competition.
During a simple ceremony which was conducted at the businesses location, Proprietor Ferdinand Bacchus expressed delight at being presented with the opportunity to give back to the sports community over the years in particular the NaMilCo Football Tournament that is organised by Fruta Conquerors F.C.
“Ever since I was approached six years ago for this support, I jumped at the opportunity to be associated with a tournament that has always exhibited a high standard and I have maintained that relationship since and will continue to do so without hesitation because it directly and indirectly support the development of youths in our beloved society through the game. I am happy for the tournament and wish it every success,” Bacchus said.
Captain of Fruta Conquerors Eon Alleyne acting on behalf of the club thanked Bacchus for his continued support and faith in the club and more directly the Festival.
Alleyne stated that he will be in the fray vying for the prize along with all the other players, but added that it is his wish that whosoever gets it is deserving of the accolade.
Many of the teams identified to participate in the tournament are all loaded with prolific goal scorers and that sets up a nice little contest apart from the quest to be crowned champions.
It will be a good battle and fans could be assured that once again a top brand of football will be witnessed.
The tournament gets underway on Sunday, January 29, at the Tucville Ground with two matches, starting at 18:00 hrs.
In the opening encounter, Sunburst Camptown goes up against University of Guyana, while the feature match brings together Beacon and Northern Rangers.
The winner of this year’s competition will walk away with $1,000,000.
