The season of conspiracies

Dear Editor,
Within twelve days it will be Christmas and within three weeks it will be the beginning of a New Year- 2012 will be here.
But while we wait on these times and seasons, allow me to do some reflection on the year that is passing us by- 2011.
Undoubtedly, we as a nation have been inundated with a series of conspiracies over the past twelve months.
I rather suspect that from January 2011 there have been many conspiracies some of which came to bear fruit. Others were either aborted before birth or died in their embryonic stage. A conspiracy has always been a tactic applied by devious characters to obtain illegal benefits to persons involved.
The word itself speaks of a secret plan or agreement between two or more people to commit an illegal or subversive act, or of a group of people planning or agreeing in secret to commit an illegal or subversive act.
The local media was and is presently a means ‘of exposing these conspiracies one after the other.
Apart from the media I have learnt over a period of time that the Holy Bible provides a more precise; authentic and approved way of measuring a man and his schemes [conspiracies]. .
While we as Guyanese may be looking forward to a bright and prosperous New Year we must never be ignorant of the past year when we were deceived into believing a lie.
We must conclude that evil has multiplied a thousand fold in this millennium.
I do not have to spell out the various conspiracies that has visited this dear Land of Guyana but forbid me to mention that when our law enforcement officers who are supposes to protect the citizens of this nation, seek to cover up their nefarious act in inflaming a youth’s genitals and damaging his character, such act must have involved a conspiracy.
Further when a contractor is given a job to build a bridge and within months this very bridge falls apart and the Government refinances this very contractor to do remedial works on the very bridge he was paid to build, conspiracy is in the making.
Finally I challenge the Churches in Guyana to be vigilant and pray against the spirit of evil conspiracies that may want to enter 2012 Merry Christmas and a Happy NewYear.
