Accused bandit, Sean Brewster, who was shot on Wednesday by police during a burglary in Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara, claims he is not a bandit but a taxi driver who was helping a customer to fetch items to his vehicle.
His Toyota Carina 212 car, PLL 5888, has been seized by police who said it was the ‘get-away’ vehicle.
Brewster is now a patient of the Male Surgical Ward of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.

Speaking to Kaieteur News from his hospital bed, the wounded prisoner said another man who escaped police during Wednesday’s incident, hired him for a job at Lot 278 Section ‘A’, Block ‘Y’, Golden Grove – the same house that was burglarized.
The house belongs to Denesh Singh who lives alone but was not at home at the time of the burglary.
According to Brewster, his friend who is now in police custody, was in his vehicle at the time and accompanied him to make the hire. Upon arrival, the man invited them into the yard and requested their help to take the items to the car.
However, before they could have done so, the police arrived.
On Wednesday, police acting on a tip off of the break-in in progress encountered three men exiting the premises.
Brewster allegedly attacked the rank with an iron bar and he was shot.
The other man was captured in a neighbour’s yard after he was cornered.
The third man is still on the run.
