The two men who were arrested by Customs Anti Narcotics Unit early Sunday morning at Number 73 Village Corentyne, have been released from custody.
According to Head of CANU, James Singh, the two men were released on Tuesday but will be required to check with the unit from time to time until the investigation has been completed.
Two men were arrested early Sunday morning while two of their accomplices fled after ranks from the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit made their largest drug bust in recent times.
According to reports, some 30 kilograms of cocaine were found at a Koker at Number 73 Village Corentyne, Berbice, some time around midnight on Sunday.
This publication was told that acting on intelligence, ranks from CANU went to the location where they saw two large buckets hidden in the bushes near the Koker.
There are reports that from all indications the items were waiting to be loaded into a boat which was close by. However when ranks showed up at the location, two men in the boat immediately fled the location. Sources say that another man jumped into the river and disappeared.
