Tempers are flaring even as people seem to be interested in who is likely to win the elections. Such is the interest in some quarters that people are beginning to look with some suspicion at their colleagues and close friends.
In one case in a close-knit community a discussion is going to spark a confrontation that will take a lot of people to calm. It would turn out that alcohol would be at the root of the squabble.
This is going to be the trend in many neighbourhoods. There are going to be threats and the police will actually get involved. This is indeed the silly season.

Another fire is going to erupt in a squatting neighbourhood. The cause would be a lighted stove but the home owner is going to suspect arson.
Neighbours would do nothing to quell this rumour. And when another fire breaks out in a relatively residential community, there is going to be the accusation again.

An armed robbery is going to traumatize a family. One of the suspects would be caught and he would indicate that a family member actually set up the robbery.
The car used would be registered in the city and the police would wonder how is it that criminals are travelling such long distances to commit crimes.
The real reason is that in the city there is always the likelihood of people being caught. Of course, there is the growing threat of vigilante justice.
