The programme is now set and all systems are falling in place for the Norman Singh Memorial Turf Club/Shariff Racing Stables $8M Horserace meet set for next Sunday October 23 at the Club’s entity No 6, Bel Air, West Coast Berbice.
With entries expected to close today and just about a week remaining until race day entries are filling up at a rapid pace.
Nine races are carded for the day and with most of the bigger horses now fully rested most of them have been entered for the main event.
With so much available for the outstanding performers in cash, trophies and other incentives no wonder over 75 horses have already been entered.
Highlighting the days programme will be the feature B class event over a distance of 1200M. A whopping $2.3M in cash is at stake for this feature event with a lucrative $1,200,000 available for the winner. Among those indicating an interest in the sumptuous meet are Ferry Landing, The Message, Marathon Man, Donut Prince, Grande Roja, Sabrina Princes, Night Crescendo, Zelik, Tiger Prospect, Miss Orientate, Gullium , Jet Set Go, Wad A Luck, Who is ON the case, Exporter and Star Tracer,
The 3yrs old event for horses Bred and Born in Guyana and the West Indies has $800,000 as the first prize and will be going over a distance of 1200M. Also has an impressive line-up with the likes of Better than Gold, Work Force, Captain Crook, Swing Easy, Big Impact, Domasaca Dream, Sabrina’s Joy, Celebration Love, Technology, Prado’s Gold, Peace and Love Gold Plated among those looking for gold.
There is a race for E and F Class horses over 1100M which has an encouraging $600,000 first prize and trophy over 1100M.
The race for 2 yrs old West Indies bred horses over 1100M has a $400,000 top prize and trophy and among those showing interest so far are Serenity, Settle In Seattle, Red Cloud, Pride and Joy, Times have changed and Rock Sonia.
The 2 yrs old Guyana Bred event also over 1100M has a top billing of $250,000 and trophy.
The G1 & Lower race also over 1100M has a first prize of $2500, 000 and trophy.
I1 and Lower race is over a distance of 1400M with winnings set at $180,000.
I3 –3 yrs old & over Winner of 1 race only will be going over a distance of 1100M and the first prize set at $160,000
The final race on the day is for Division 1, 2 & 3 or the J, K&L horses over 1100M for the $120,000.
Banks DIH Limited and Digicel are on board and the meet is expected to be grand.
Renovation works have been almost complete on the facilities. The double Decker grand stand is getting a face lift and the track is getting a re-laid, while new rails more toilet facilities with running water are being installed.
