The Horserace meet organized by the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sports Facilities (RCMTC&SF) in collaboration with Ansa McAl Guyana Limited slated for today at the Club’s track at Alness Corentyne Berbice promises to be one with a difference.
According to Coordinator Colin Elcock the meet shows that events of different caliber can be organized and horseracing can be held every week or in succeeding weeks.
The event does not have to be lavish and elaborate, “Different meets can be organized, Sprint meets, Handicaps, low profile, etc”.
This meet is dubbed as a Keep fit Sprint event where none of the races will be over 1200M and the organizers are using this event to get the horses back in shape after a hectic two months of racing and a one month layoff.
Eight Races are listed for the day with over 50 horses taking entry and the L class event replacing the Two year West Indies Bred race.
The track is one of the better tracks in the country and with the current dry weather some fast times and records are expected to be recorded and a riveting and exciting day of racing is anticipated.
Ansa McAl Guyana Limited and the RCMTC takes charge of the feature E1 event with a first prize of $300,000 and the Ansa McAl trophy over 1200M.
It will be interesting to see old stager Delmur Gold matching strides with Dubai Duchess, Majestic, The Bailiff and Face the Music in a face off for champion ship honours.
The 3yrs old Guyana and West Indies Bred event for Horses classified G1 and lower over 1200M for a top prize of $250,000 compliments of the RCMTC and the Benjamin trophy will have the likes of Gold Plated, Celebration Love, Bio Fuel, Damascus Dream, J.D Junior and Work Force looking to work for the big win.
The G1 & Lower race compliments of Jumbo jet Auto sales for the Dr. Dwight Waldron trophy over 1200M with winnings set at $200,000 has Momzelle, Prado’s Gold, Zelona, South Sea and Miracle Run among those competing. The two year old race for Guyana Bred horses with the winner getting $170,000 and the G and 3 Trophy over 1100M has an interesting line up of new comers the likes of Bad Romance, Golden Reprise and It’s my time.
The H1 & Lower event has a winning purse of $170,000 and the Chico Chester trophy with the distance being 1200M with Dream Girl, Funny Sided, Apostle and Infinity in the running.
A large field has been lined up for the I1race with the pole position takings being set at $140,000 and is another 1200M event. Among them are Royal Time, Royal Salute, Indian Flag, Miami Vice, Extra Heat, Try Again, Bounty Flyer and Cash Connection among others.
The J, K class event compliments of South Lands Incorporated and the Dr. Zinzie Trophy with first prize of $70,000 also over 1200M includes Sporting Time, Porridge, Foolish Pleasure and Black Water.
The newly added L class event will see the lower class horses having an opportunity to show off their wares for the winning $60,000 compliments of O. Misir and Dax Construction will see East Touch, Lucky Gamble, Simba, Cutting Crystal, Soldier Boy and Back in a Flash in action.
The Top individual performers including champion and runner up Jockeys, top stable and trainers will be presented with accolades compliments of Businessman Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall Bourda Market and the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sports Facilities. Race time is 13:00 hrs.
