Demerara and President’s X1 teams selected for El Dorado Inter County 50 overs cricket
In the absence of West Indies players Ramnaresh Sarwan, Shiv Chanderpaul, Chris Barnwell and West Indies t20 selectee Derwin Christian, West Indies ODI batsman Leon Johnson will spearhead the Demerara team in the El Dorado Inter- County 50 overs cricket competition which bowls off tomorrow in Georgetown and Berbice.
The Senior Selection panel of the GCB along with the Demerara representatives from each of the area associations were invited by GCB president Ramsay Alli to select the Demerara team that will participate in the competition due to be launched today at the GCB Secretariat at Bourda.
All selectees are asked to contact the GCB office on 227-7130, GCB Vice President Alfred Mentore on 623-0235 or GCB Chairman of Senior Selectors on 610- 3292, for further information regarding practice sessions.
Meanwhile, the GCB Senior Selection panel announced its President’s XI team which will participate in the Competition. This forth team will join Essequibo, Demerara and Berbice to compete for supremacy and enable the selectors to have a look at players outside of the squads selected by the county selectors. These players are asked to contact the GCB office on 227-7130.
The Berbice and Essequibo teams have not yet been announced and with former Test batsmen Travis Dowlin and Sewnarine
Chattergoon along with present National all-rounder Steven Jacobs in the President’s X1 a keen contest is expected in the four-team competition.
