Rodrigues 8th in Boys 100m Breaststroke final; Stephenson also competing

Guyana’s Ronaldo Rodrigues placed 8th in the final of the Boys 100m Breaststroke with a time of 1:11.60 on day one of the Commonwealth Youth Games 2011 swimming competition taking place in the Isle of Man.
This event took place yesterday afternoon. Competing in the morning, event 6 – Rodrigues entered the 100m Breaststroke

boasting an entry time of 1:10.02. He achieved a time of 1:10.57 to qualify for the final placing 8th of 13.
In the 50m Butterfly, Rodrigues’ entry time was 27.91; he clocked 29.08 to place 23 of 27.
The other swimmer competing at the Commonwealth Games; Jessica Stephenson participated in event 3 – Girls 100m Breaststroke. Stephenson’s entry time was 1:13.57 and she placed 13th of 18 athletes in a time of 1:15.89.
The Guyana Amateur Swimming Association (GASA) said that they were proud of Rodrigues making the final of the 100m Breaststroke.
Today, the Guyanese swimmers will be in action again, Rodrigues will compete in the 200m Breaststroke seeded 7th of the 9 swimmers while Stephenson is 7th of 19 swimmers in the 50m Breaststroke.
