East Coast takes centre stage today; 4 matches slated

The battle for supremacy in the inaugural GT&T Fastball knock-out football competition continues today when round-of-32 matches continue at the BV Community Ground under lights today.
It has a been quite a while fans on the East Coast have been treated to flood light football and a huge crowd including fans from the Ancient County of Berbice and the Capital City are expected to converge at this ground to absorb what is anticipated to be some exhilarating matches; note – only winners will be advancing.

It was to be an East Coast / Berbice showdown in three of the four games with Port Kaituma, champions of the North West Zone featuring in the main supporting showdown against another East Coast outfit, Golden Stars B, winners of the East Coast Zone.
This young Port Kaituma side which much is not known about has promised that they will give of their best as they are convinced that they have what it takes to go all the way and have also promised to set the BV ground ablaze with potent FastBall skills this evening.
Tasked with the responsibility of engineering a win for the Port Kaituma boys are Orin Benjamin, Terrence Ash, Leroy Domingo, Glenroy Bailey, Orlando Cupidore, Marcel Santiago and Kwame Gordon.
Leading Golden Stars will be Carlos Kingston who scored both their goals in the Zone final when they defeated Daddy’s Enterprise, he would be supported by Randy Stoby, Mark Trotman, Kellon Semple, Kwesi Halley, Courtney Clarke, Akini Cameron, Keith Waldron, Shawn Douglas, Karamo Holder, Dexter Rodney, Randy Gardner and Rickford Morrison.
Tonight’s main event, a showdown of youth against experience is eagerly anticipated; with GFC Masters having already walked the plank on day one of the round-of-32 in Linden on Sunday last, Hearts of Oak, another veteran team, has been one of the tougher sides in the Ancient County; they will have a point to prove, how effective they will be against a young BV Triumph United combination is left to be seen.
BVTU, which won the 3rd place game in the Zone in an epic via penalty kicks 10-9 over Ann’s Grove / Line Stars United, will be led by their most experienced player in goalkeeper Linden Dennis with support from Colin Jones, Seon Mc Dowell, Shawn Daniels, Kelvin Williams, Runnel Gordon, Desmond Williams, Malcolm Wilson, Nickel Fraser and Rayon Hopkinson.
Hearts of Oak’ aim to enter the round-of-16 will depend on the likes of Monty Fordyce, Andre James, Edward James, Charles Williams, Bryon Ralph, Colvis Bacchus, Richard Anderson, Carlos Mingo, Winston Butts, Jason Sanmoogan and Kurt Alphonso clicking.
Cougars Retrievers and Daddy’s Enterprise will face off in the second game of the evening with opening play between Ann’s Grove / Line Stars United and West Berbice based Monedderlust from 18:00hrs.
Ann’s Grove / Line Stars’ ambitions for a place in the next round will depend on the effectiveness of Travis Alleyne, Antonio Jackson, Carlton Jerrick, Terrence Dodson, Kevon Barry, Dywan Rogers, Carlos Davis, Anthony Barry, Noel Denny and Sherwin Gilbert.
Monedderlust, former Berbice champions, have made a name for themselves as a fit unit and will be led by Gladwyn Johnson, Alwin Mc Donald, Erwin Johnson, Artley Bailey, Raynel Frank, Daylon Frank, Marlon Welcome, Ceon Watts, Jamal Watts, Kenston Lindey and Royston Khalil.
