Amerally Sawmills’ Memorex and Nand Persaud & Sons Limited’ Karibee Rice are favourites in their respective semi final matches of the Berbice Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inter Agency Ten10 softball cricket competition set for tomorrow at the Rose Hall Community Centre Ground.
The two teams along with The New Building Society and Metro Office & Computer Supplies will battle in the final four, the two winners set to face off in the final under lights.
While Amerally Sawmills’ Memorex should start as favourities being one of the top teams in the country, the other teams should not be taken lightly and has been hard at practice in the quest to take home the top prize.
Manager of Nand Persaud’s Karibee Rice team, Mohindra Persaud indicated that they will be coming out in full force with the intention of taking the championship trophy and purse. They too have been preparing hard.
Former Berbice Inter County player and Manager of the NBS Berbice Operations Anil Beharry will be bringing all his experience to bear as he leads his charges while much is not known of the Metro players but they have shown good all-round fighting qualities in their preliminary round matches and could spring a surprise on match day.
Exhibition matches will feature Albion Cricket Club against Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club in what is now a full fledge T20 affair while the softball encounter will now feature top soft ball teams Celebrity Times of Berbice Taking on Universal DVD/Berbice Titans.
A number of gate prizes will be on offer including one Digicel Black Berry phone, bicycles, DVD player and an MP3 player among others. Game time tomorrow is 13:00hrs.
The organisers have been high ion praise for the participating teams and fans who have supported the games so far and they are urging all to ensure they are present for the climax of the competition.
