Dear Editor,
General Elections may be held sometime later this year. The presidential candidates for the parties contesting to elections are trying their best to woo the electorate for their support.
They will make all sorts of promises to the masses but what they will fail to do is to clearly tell the electorate what they intend to do to correct the issues that plague the nation.
So far, not one of these would-be Presidents has clearly indicated their intention about the following;-
(i)The inability of the administration to deal with the drug trade, especially the relationship between the bureaucracy and the drug lords.
(ii)The inability of the Police Force to take action against Ministers of the Gov’t, drug lords corrupt contractors who do shabby work at exhorbitant prices, big businessmen and relatives of the bureaucracy.
(iii) Living Conditions of the masses and the involvement of the security forces in criminal activity.
Quite recently a presidential candidate made the remark “Let the law take its course”.
If this is the way a candidate will act, knowing fully well that the Police Force is micro managed by the President, I feel that he is trying to put wool over the eyes of the electorate. Ashley Singh
