Dear Editor,
The One Laptop Per Family (OLPF) election gimmick by the Bharrat Jagdeo regime should be supported and embraced by all Guyanese.
It is my hope, also, that these machines are available very soon to the Guyanese public more so before the elections. These machines will ultimately become the “Trojan Horse” that will Topple The Tyrants (TTT) – see Freddie Kissoon’s recent explanation of the TTT concept.
It is my firm belief that the aura of electoral invincibility of the PPP has been shattered beyond repair by the worst president Guyana has ever had – Bharrat Jagdeo. Mr. Jagdeo is unapologetically the sharpest “Dutch-axe” there ever was – those of us who have an idea of “Dutch-axe” know that it is a metaphor for an object (usually a knife) that is sharpened at both sides.
I totally dig that Mr. Granger described him as “two-mouth” so the analogy compares favourably. Mr. Jagdeo also suffers from the affliction of Absolute Power Corrupts (APC) a virus that has no known cure (Ghadaffi has this illness) and which takes over the part of one’s brain dealing with rational behaviour and replacing it with grotesque, evil and despicable behaviour.
A side effect is split personality disorder and this is noted when Mr. Jagdeo goes into certain communities and preaches about Guyana being a democracy. He then makes a nonsensical (but sensible to him and his acolytes) 180 degree rotation and tells another community that they must educate their younger members that the community he had just heaped praise on “has blood on their hands.”
However, Guyanese should be very “thankful” to Mr. Jagdeo for destroying what little credibility was left of the PPP after Cheddi Jagan died. I remember after the elections in 1992 that many Guyanese, even those who supported the PNC (like myself), wanted secretly to have change and someone else in government, but boy were we taken for fools especially in the Jagdeo years.
In the very early days of the PPP back in government we got a taste of spitefulness when we witnessed the government doing its utmost to recall students from Russia who went there on scholarships. A cousin of mine was in Russia studying at the time and I believe he and others were targeted because they had close family members who were a part of
the PNC government.
What a shame indeed because this student who was being victimized returned to Guyana as a patriot and served his obligations to his country. He is now back in Russia with his wife and child since his conscience is clear. But I am still proud of the fact that he returned and did his time. It would be useful for an investigation to be done to ascertain how many students during that time, returned to Guyana. I know that many of them never returned!!!
I know right now there are many Guyanese who are just like me back in 1992, secretly hoping for a new government and they come from all walks of life. Despite the controversy surrounding the One Laptop Per Family initiative I think this would bolster opposition support since they can utilize this medium to educate our people due to the One Radio Station For Country (ORSFC) policy of the government.
With the laptops in Guyanese hands opposition leaders can unleash their plan of action for development in Guyana by communicating electronically with their supporters more quickly, efficiently and effectively.
This would be one initiative that Jagdeo should be proud of and thanked for when he retires and this should remain his greatest legacy – that he gave Guyanese the tools that helped bring them out of mental slavery.
In fact he should be given Guyana’s highest order (OE) for this initiative that democratically removed his party from office. This technological tool (Laptop/Notebook) can help break down that “Berlin Wall” in people’s heads, cure their strange addiction with racial voting and usher in a wave of change that has never been seen in Guyana before.
This will ensure that the PPP is defeated and Guyana once more saved from tyranny and destruction should we have five more years of this type of “split-personality,” divisive and destructive government!
However, subsequent governments need to also be on their P’s and Q’s because they can and must suffer the same fate as the PPP if they do not deliver on their promises!
Clyde Pestano.
