Another nail in the coffin of the working class

In the aftermath of the Babu John excursion, it is most funny to note that the Jagdeo Government has now put another nail in the coffin of the working class by passing the Title to Land (Prescription and Limitation) Amendment Bill 2011.
According to Donald Ramotar, “Dr. Jagan was a man who fought to restore dignity to the people of Guyana.” Why talk about the great things Dr Jagan did, when the principle beneficiaries of his legacy (the PPP and its leaders) are today taking away the dignity of the Guyanese people by denying them the right to prescriptive title to their land that they have occupied for moré than 30 years? This is hypocrisy of the highest order Mr. Ramotar! Who the cap fit, let them wear it.
This situation clearly points out the contradictions between what Dr. Jagan stood for and what his disciples are doing today. He stood for the emancipating of the working people from mental, economic and social oppression. However, his children in the PPP today are the chief proponents of mental, economic and social oppression of the people and this new law is just one of the many cases to project this deliberate strategy to oppress the people.
I humbly plead with President Jagdeo to amend this law to provide for the mandatory provision of alternative lands to the people who will be adversely affected by this new law. What good does it do the Government when Uncle Joe is evicted from lands he has lived on for more than 30 years? I appeal to the AFC to file an injunction against this unethical law being piloted by unholy men. These ‘legal and political Rasputins’ must be stopped before they destroy what little is left of the Guyanese society.
