Dear Editor,
If Tacuma Ogunseye and the WPA can put country first and forge a coalition with the main opposition party for the 2011 elections, then every Guyanese regardless of party affiliation or ethnicity should join this relentless fight for regime change.
The WPA have tempered their bitterness, which resulted after the death of their charismatic leader and renowned scholar, Dr Walter Rodney, who would have also resisted this dictatorial regime had he been alive.
The activists of this party had reasons to be bitter after it was alleged that Rodney was assassinated by the PNC, although many Guyanese know and believe the assassins were undetected bedfellows of the WPA.
The intent of my missive Mr. Editor is to remind and inform citizens that the presidential candidate of the AFC has no right to vehemently oppose a union which seeks to rid the country of this turbulent dictator. Ramjattan and his cohorts are not against the policies of the PPP, but their enemy is Jagdeo, who has remained resolute in his defiance to rid the party of those of similar ilk, whom he sees as rivals.
These are not turncoats who have legitimacy for their actions, because I reiterate they cannot and would not attract any votes from where they frog-hopped, but once again expect to sit in Parliament through your votes.
Remember that these folks are PPP and remain loyal to the party. I guess many Guyanese may not be aware that Kwame Gilbert’s father was a known PPP activist. When this regime refutes claims that it is a party that practices violence it is a barefaced and boldfaced lie. Beware of those who come to you in sheep’s clothing making false promises.
