A man who police say is wanted for a series of armed robberies may still be able to remain a free man for the Christmas.
Gary De Florimonte, called ‘Saddam’ of Plaisance Squatting Area, East Coast Demerara, traded bullets with members of a Joint Services mobile patrol unit and managed to make good his escape.
Police in a press release stated that around 00:20 hours yesterday members of a Joint Services mobile patrol encountered De Foraminate who was among a group of men gaming at Plaisance Squatting area.
The ranks were acting on information that the suspect, who had eluded capture for some time now, had surfaced.
The police said that as the ranks approached, De Florimonte began to run and was pursued by the ranks during which he discharged several rounds at the cops from a handgun.
They returned fire but it is almost certain that the missed their target.
However, some of De Florimonte’s associates were detained.
