After being on the run for some five years, police on Sunday last nabbed a murder suspect who had managed to elude their dragnet. He thought that he had been forgotten, but was he ever wrong.
This newspaper was told that the man is accused of killing Desmond Henry in the Five Star backdam, North West District. Henry was killed by an arrow, allegedly from a bow used by the suspect, some time back in 2005. The alleged attacker was reportedly identified, but he fled the jurisdiction immediately after the killing. He emerged last Sunday and was promptly arrested and charged.
Early yesterday morning the suspect was brought to the city. He is expected in court later today. This newspaper understands that the man told investigators that after the incident he fled into the ‘backdam’ but decided to come out after he was of the opinion that no one would remember the incident. The court will now decide his fate.
