National Milling Company of Guyana (NAMILCO) formally introduced its ‘Creamed Wheat-Up’ at the South Road Nursery School’s clinic yesterday.
The children were gathered with their parents, teachers and nurses to be enlightened on the benefits of the product.
According to NAMILCO Marketing Consultant, Affeeze Khan, ‘Creamed Wheat-Up’ is a local product and was designed by a German Production Manager of the flour mill who decided to create a nutritious meal for his toddler, whose picture was printed on the box.
Khan said Managing Director of NAMILCO, Bert Sukhai, came up with the idea that the product should be on the market since it was very healthy for children.
Adding that there are many persons who are unaware of the benefits of the product, Khan said permission was granted by the Ministries of Education and Health, and the nutritional department, who are satisfied with the quality of the product, which is recommended for toddlers of all ages.
Khan said the ‘Creamed Wheat-Up’ is sold for less than $300 and it contains the necessary nutrition and vitamins needed for a child, and it is easy to prepare. The directions are on the box.
One mother said that she has been using the product and her children love it, especially since it has iron and vitamin B content.
In 2009, the company achieved ISO 9001:2008 Certification; this was attestation of its commitment to ensure that customer requirements are met with consistency as well as relevant statutory and regulatory requirements applicable to the food industry.
