Dear Editor,
It cannot be accepted that many of our teachers, who during the summer vacation worked with our students throughout this country, giving remedial mathematics and English lessons to date have not been paid!
Has the Government paid the superstar Nero? Can the Minister of Education coming out of education month – September, tell the public; why this fundamental right of workers, in this case our teachers, was violated? Can there be any excuse for such a travesty? Most likely these teachers would not be required next year, since we can expect an announcement from the Government that we have eradicated these learning disorders just in time for elections.
It is indeed shocking that monies can be found to sponsor lewd and sometimes shocking behaviour disguised as entertainment and our already underpaid teachers, have to suffer. Maybe the teachers should ask GAWU to represent them? What do you think?
