The woman’s husband, Fidel Fitzgerald Glasgow, 32, called ‘Sidel’ had pleaded guilty to the same charge earlier and was sentenced to five years in jail.
According to the Prosecutor, Corporal Shurland King, the woman was out on $100,000 bail when she was nabbed at her home tending to the herbs which were spread out on two zinc sheets in the hall of the house.
Her husband was away at the time of the raid and upon learning of the arrest he had made contact with the police and had enquired what could be done. He had subsequently made arrangement with the cops to “meet with him, so that they can work something out” and had promised to “set them right”.
A deal was finalized and when the man turned up for the arranged meeting at a restaurant he was held by some undercover police who were on the stakeout.
In court he pleaded guilty and had told the magistrate then that the drug was his and that he had collected it for safekeeping for his friend Gerald, who had brought it down from the Berbice River.
The woman was represented by Attorneys at Law Mursaline Bacchus and Charrandass Persaud.
