The history making ‘Lady Jags’ the first football team in Guyana’s history to qualify for the Gold Cup finals are determined to go all the way and become the first team to make it to a World Cup. The female World Cup will be hosted by Germany, June 2011.
Guyana has been drawn in Group A along with Mexico, Canada and Trinidad & Tobago. Group B will comprise the United States, Costa Rica, Haiti and Guatemala.

According to the Women’s Programme Director, Colin Baker, the success of the team has been due a combination of hard work by the Technical staff and players with support from the GFF and the Guyana Sport Development Foundation.
It was disclosed that to date approximately US$200,000 have been spent on the ‘Lady Jags’ with a further US$65,000 required for the team to properly prepare for the Gold Cup during October – November, 2010.
The 27 players invited to camp are: Ashley Rodrigues, Alisa Leila, Alison Heydorn, Ashlee Savona, Briana De Souza, Brittany Persaud, Catherine Kobelka, Collette Hope, Daria Owen, Donna Carvalhal, Elysia Persaud, Jordana Phillips, Justine Rodrigues, Kayla De Souza, Mariam El-Masri, Nikkitta Persaud, Olivia Gonsalves, Ronette Cort, Shondel Archer, Tenyka Francique, Monique Sylvester, Chantal Lynch, Melissia Elie, Roseanna George, Satara Murray, Karina Moore and Tessa Edwards.
