Dear Sir,
The situation at the New Amsterdam and Port Mourant hospitals, as regards the free delivery of health care has really left much to be desired over the past few months.
People would go there only to be told that no doctor is available or that the doctors are somewhere else.
Favouritism is also very rampant, especially at the New Amsterdam Hospital. People would go there from as early as 06:00hrs in the morning to get to a clinic and many a times with little children but only to discover that some family or friend of a particular doctor or nurse has to be given priority. I must however, say that there are a few very cooperative and hard-working nurses.
And last but not least, the availability of drugs. Sir, after spending almost a day at one of these hospitals you are given your prescription only to find out that none of the drugs prescribed are available. We are told by the nurses to go and purchase these drugs.
Sir, we are paying our taxes and we expect a proper and better delivery of health care.
I would be very grateful if you could look into these problems as early as possible and so do many other Berbicians as well.
