National Captain Sabola Gray in an interview with Kaieteur Sport said that the current squad in training has been very dedicated and committed and she expects them to be very competitive at the NACRA Sevens Championships which will be played in Guyana following the completion of the CAC Tournament.
The national skipper of the defending champions, Gray told this newspaper that the team has been undergoing rigorous preparations under the watchful eyes of Cornel Millington and they was very satisfied with the progress made so far.
“Even though the training has been tough, the girls have stuck to the task and are very committed to retaining the title they won last year,” Gray disclosed. She said that the team is a cohesive one and everyone understands the importance of playing in front of the home fans and are eager to do well.
Gray asked about where the team in terms of preparations revealed that they’ve stepped up their ball handling skills and passing, adding that the fitness level is good, but needed to be improved.
“We just need to step up a bit, but we are confident that by the time the tournament commences on July 26, we should be in good shape to successfully defend our title which we’ve won for the past three years.”
