West Canje and No. 43 Scorpion are the latest teams through to the last 16 playoffs of the New Building Society second division 40 over cricket competition in Berbice despite the respective teams losing their latest preliminary round matches.
In Zone D (New Amsterdam/West Canje/East Bank), West Canje went down to Overwinning Bible Church to end their preliminary campaign tied with Tucber Park with five wins each.
West Canje however have the superior run rate between the two teams and earned the right to advance. In Zone M (Central/Upper Corentyne) No. 48 Challengers defeated No. 43 Scorpion and No. 55 Mayflower over the weekend but nevertheless ended tied with No. 43 Scorpion, who by virtue of a better run rate got the nod to go through to the next stage.
