The Easter celebrations are once again with us and the Alliance For Change takes this opportunity to extend warm Easter greetings to all the citizens of our beloved land. This national festival has traditionally been a delightful time when our fellow Guyanese celebrate in large numbers as we fly our kites and enjoy a day of fun with friends and family. It is a time when we meditate on the resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ after He was falsely accused, tried and crucified on the cross – all for the sake of offering mankind salvation from sin.
Easter then reminds our nation that despite our calamities and difficulties we can be victorious if we persevere and keep our faith in Almighty God. The great message of Easter is therefore hope – hope that makes us have that confidence in God that in His goodness and love we can triumph. The spiritual lessons offered in the resurrection of Jesus Christ give our lives meaning and direction and the opportunity to start over and live better lives; no matter what are our present difficulties and circumstances.
The Alliance For Change knows that much crime, poverty and other social ills prevail in our land and calls on every Guyanese to team with us for change and for a new beginning. Let us count ourselves as immortals who recognize that the spiritual is much higher than the material, that in the sight of Almighty God the spirit counts far more than the physical, and that in Easter Almighty God demonstrates that life is essentially spiritual and timeless.
Before us lie work, discipline and sacrifice and the lesson of Easter gives us the spiritual power to do the work, accept the discipline, and make the sacrifice all so vitally needed for nation building.
We live in a land where very frequently there are startling revelations of corruption in high places, sometimes in the tune of millions. Soon thereafter we cease to hear of these matters and we can only conclude that they are swept under the carpet. However, let us be encouraged by the words of Clarence W. Hall who stated “If Easter says anything to us today, it is this: You can put truth in a grave, but it won’t stay there. You can nail it to a cross, wrap it in winding sheets and shut it up in a tomb, but it will rise”.
May the resurrection joy lift us from loneliness, weakness, and despair to strength, beauty, and happiness. Let us not merely say “Christ is risen” but let us say “Guyana will rise”. May Almighty God bless all Guyana.

AFC bids farewell to Elder member Boyo Ramsaroop (May 17, 1938-March 20, 2010)
The AFC said farewell and celebrated the wonderful life of its Elder member Mr. Boyo Ramsaroop on Sunday 28 March, 2010 at a celebratory service held at the Redeemer Lutheran Church on Sheriff Street. The service was followed by the cremation of his body at the Good Hope Crematorium, East Coast Demerara.
The eulogy, which was delivered by Party Leader Raphael Trotman, M.P., chronicled the life of “struggle” over sixty years, by the once brave fighter for freedom, equality and justice for all Guyanese. Trotman called on the nation to recognise Boyo Ramsaroop and people of his ilk as rare gems whose contributions and memories have to be preserved in a formal and national way as their work transcended narrow political objectives.
Tributes were also paid by Chairman Khemraj Ramjattan, M.P who spoke of the Boyo Ramsaroop’s exceptional attributes of frankness, integrity and honesty, which are lacking in very many of our political leaders today, and by Moses Nagamootoo, M.P. and Opposition front-bencher, Winston Murray, M.P. who reminisced on experiences shared with their friend and comrade over several decades. Two of his five children, now residing in Germany Roy Ramsaroop and Savitri Langwisch, and brother, Toolaram Ramsaroop shared touching personal anecdotes and remembrances of the life they shared with him.
As a first for the Party, its flag was ceremoniously draped over the casket and thereafter presented to the family as a mark of honour and respect.
