An 82-year-old woman is currently a patient in the Intensive Care Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital after an errant driver struck her down.
Ursula Nelson, of 34 West La Penitence, sustained three broken ribs, a broken pelvis and other injuries yesterday morning after the accident caused by a driver who attempted to breach the traffic light.
The woman’s daughter, Olivia Archibald, told Kaieteur News that she received a call shortly before 11:00hrs yesterday informing her about the accident.
According to Archibald her mother was on her way to Alberttown. She said that eyewitnesses told her that the driver did not stop even though the light had already changed.
The woman said that her mother was picked up and taken to the hospital.
The driver of the vehicle is in police custody at the Brickdam Police Station.
