Timehri Panthers face Grove Hi Tec in final game to determine champs
The Grove Community Centre Ground on the East Bank of Demerara will be a hive of activity and tension when the final two matches of the 2009 Stag Beer sponsored East Bank Football Association Division-One League, are contested.
With only one point separating the top two teams, Timehri Panthers (21) and Grove Hi Tec, the home team must win this game in order to lift the championship trophy and $150,000. The Panthers will however have other ideas and will be walking with dozens of supporters to counter their opponents’ expected home support.
The real battle will however be on the field and Timehri are confident of holding off the challenges of Grove to win.
The Soesdyke based side will depend on Esmond Sam, Colin David, Hubert Adams, Mickey Prass, Marvin Dayson, Troy George, Wilford Douglas, Julian Alleyne, Orin Steele, Travis Thornhill, Dexter Ferrel, Wayne Crandon, Alvin Adams, Royston Younge, Dewayne Grant-Stuart, Samuel Steele, Terrence Pitt and Lawrence Steele. Team Coach is Kwesi Angus.
Grove’s line up boasts the two leading marksmen in John Matthews (9) and Dominic Garnett (8) who will be backed up by Dexter Archer, Orson Francois, Marvin Squires, Sherman Doris, Clive Matthews, Seon Simpson, Kevin Alleyne, Nathaniel Pilgrim, Romel Matthews, Rondell Alleyne, Wayne Andries, Vanburn Jones, Alex Sinclair, Travis Jones, Mark Jingoree and Moses Fraser. The team Coach is Levi Braithwaite.
Clashing in the opening game features Kuru Kuru Warriors and Yarrowkabra F.C. the Warriors are already assured of the 3rd place but will be aiming to end the tournament with a bang while first timers Yarrowkabra will also be seeking to end the competition on a high in their debut season.
An exciting afternoon of football is anticipated and fans are in for a treat. Representatives of the sponsor, Ansa McAl Trading expected to be on hand to witness the action.
