Dear Editor,
It is with great dissatisfaction that I write this letter. I have read your reports on the Minister of Works breaking down bridges fences and other structures on government reserves on the West Coast of Demerara.
Well I bought a property in Blygezight C/ville, Georgetown and I might say I bought this property for location. It is at the end of the street opposite a soon not to be vacant government reserve.
A few days ago a Hymac was there cleaning the drains and I thought this is good. However, two days after I saw fences being erected now I am hearing that a businessman is going to stock containers on this land as a warehouse facility.
Is this legal, has the relevant minister taken leave of his senses he pens the demolition of properties that are on reserves and then gives permission to others to fence and use reserves as they see fit, while devaluing properties in my area. I know this complaint will fall on deaf ears, but no matter I would like the Guyanese public to understand this is the way the cookie crumbles. I can destroy what I want and on the other hand I can do whatever I like and with whom ever I like, this is the perks of being the minister. Jhonathan Spears
