Hefty prize monies available
The Rising Sun Turf Club in collaboration with Jumbo Jet Auto Sales and Agriculture Machinery establishment has organised a grand one day horse race meet set for this Sunday at the Rising Sun Turf Club, West Coast Berbice.
Over $5M in cash, trophies and other incentives are available in the season ender which ironically will be the first race for the New Year. Seven races are carded for the day’s programmes which will be known as the Rising Sun/Jumbo Jet Sprint Classic which will see all of the events being contested over 1000m.
Once again the C class event will be the main draw card with the winner running away with over $500,000.
All of the other match ups have seen an increase in the prize monies. The three-year-old Guyana and West Indian bred Mohammed Sprint Classic will see the winner carting off $400,000. The two year-old Open Guyana and West Indian bred contest has a winning purse of $300,000.
The F class battle also for the same amount of money. The animal placing first in the G class event gets $200,000 as its reward. The ‘I’ class winners money is $130,000 the same for the winner in the Division 1, 2&3 event.
So far most of the top horses in the country have taken entry in what is expected to be a scorching event.
Ramesh Sunich of Trophy Stall Bourda Market will once again be sponsoring the trophies for champion performers on the day.
