Cops arrested for raping teen, 15, in lockups
Officials at the Springlands Police Station are investigating the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl by two police ranks and a Rural Constable.
Kaieteur News understands that the three men are under close arrest and that the Rural Constable has admitted to having sexually assaulted the juvenile.
The incident allegedly occurred last month but only came to light a few days ago.
According to reports reaching Kaieteur News, the juvenile was detained at the Springlands Police Station some time last month for wandering.
She was reportedly released, but, for reasons unknown, was detained at the same station a few days later.
It is alleged that this time, the three suspects forced themselves on the teen. The alleged victim reportedly told investigators that the men eventually took her into a cell where she was raped.
Kaieteur News was told that under interrogation, the Rural Constable admitted to having sex with the teen.
The report comes on the heels of the torture of a 14-year-old boy by police ranks at the Leonora Police Station.
